Hill Top Farm
Whenever I can I combine some sort of recipe with a photo series, simply because I love cooking, but more importantly because it just tells and adds that little bit more. This series accompanies the Hill Top Farm series and tells a little story of traditional inspired British farmhouse classics, simple, made of local available produce and full of flavour.
When I researched the Beatrix Potter story for my Hill Top series, which is actually a really interesting and inspiring story, I accidentally ran into a "Beatrix Potter Country Cookery Book" published in the early 1980ies. Beatrix never wrote a cookery book, her first biographer came up with it (Beatrix Potter died in 1943) inspired by Beatrix's stories and illustrations and the farming, village kind of life Beatrix had led in the second half of her life. That little recipe book inspired me to do this series of English farmhouse dishes, all with some sort of connection to Beatrix Potter from either that 1980ies cookery book, her stories and letters Beatrix wrote. Suiting very well the feel of the Lake District countryside.
