Christmas in the Farmhouse, with simple decorations and no-nonsense food.
Welcome your guests with homemade mulled cider, sweet mince pies with cranberries and walnuts and apple and blue cheese sausage rolls. Followed by grilled beetroot, pear and hazelnut salad.
For mains there is chicken cooked with cider and mushrooms, two winter salads, grilled cabbage with mustard and hazelnuts, the best-ever roast potatoes with rosemary and garlic and homemade apple sauce. Vegetarian main is roasted butternut squash with sage butter and oven baked goat's cheese with rosemary.
For desert there is trifle with ginger cake and stewed pears in layers of creamed yogurt with homemade custard, topped with shaved almonds and cacao.
All recipes are great for Chrismas, but most are fantastic for other times of the year too.
Merry Christmas!
